Known Good LVDS Screen
The CMIzapper Known Good LVDS SCreen is an easy to use tool to see many interesting things about a Mac motherboard you are working on.
It does two things:
1- It 'pretends' to be a good LVDS screen as used in the MacBook Pro 'UniBody' models. Essentially it is a 'Known Good' LVDS Screen. So no need to connect a real, fragile, expensive and vulnerable LCD panel wile repairing. Plugging in the CMIzapper Known Good Screen is much easier and safer than using a real (Apple) screen.
2- The tester has many LEDs that give you useful information about what is and what is not working on the Mac motherboard.
It shows if the Mac has read the EDID ROM in the 'Screen'.
It shows if the Mac is supplying power to the 'Screen'. Two LEDs, one for PP3v3_LCD and one for PP#v3_S0
It shows if the backlight voltage is OK, and if not it shows you what is going on. It will show you if the backlight line is open circuit, 0 volts, or not being boosted from PPBus.
